The Agri-Tronix GPS speed sensor includes an embedded receiver and antenna. Based on a proven technology, this unit tracks up to 12 satellites at a time providing fast one second speed updates on the 1hz model a 200ms (5 times a second) updates on the 5hz model. This generation of Agri-Tronix GPS speed sensors adds the capability of FAA Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) differential GPS. This meets the sensitivity requirements of providing accurate speed over land, air or water.
The Agri-Tronix GPS speed sensor design uses the latest technology and high-level circuit integration to achieve superior performance while minimizing space and power requirements. A micro-processor signal convertor is incorporated in line with the GPS antenna to convert the GPS NEMA string to a 46.56 hz/mph square wave output that is used on many different manufacturer's monitors requiring speed input.
The Agri-Tronix GPS Speed Sensor is designed to withstand rugged operating conditions and have waterproof rating of IEC 60529 IPX7 (Immersion in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes).
Information on Test Feature:
The Agri-Tronix GPS Speed Sensor incorporates a test feature that will output a 5.0 mph speed signal when a magnet is held near the side of the signal convertor (the base of the antenna is a magnet and it can be used to activate the test feature). This will allow testing of all wiring and connectors. The monitor calibration number can also be verified, all without satellite signal or movement of vehicle.
To Activate the 5.0 MPH output signal:
- Remove power from the GPS Sensor or unplug from monitor.
- Remove any magnet near the LED side of the convertor section.
- Apply power to the GPS speed sensor.
- Within 20 seconds hold a magnet to the LED side of the signal convertor section. Move along the side of the convertor until the LED starts flashing a red/green sequence. As long as the magnet is held in that position, the GPS speed sensor will continue to produce a 5.0 MPH signal.
