Q: What is the difference between the Radar II and the Radar III?
A: The main difference is size of the sensor. The Radar II is 4 x 4 x 12.5 in and weights 4.5 lbs. The Radar III is 4 x 3.4 x 3.1 in. and weights only 1 lb.
Q: Where would I use these Sensors?
A: You can use these sensors to tell you the speed you are moving from .33- 67 mph. It can be pointed forwards or backwards towards the ground. Anywhere from 18-48 inches above the ground.
Q: What is the mounting angle of the radar?
A: Both radars should be mounted at 35±5˚ from target surface.
Q: What kind of signal does the Radar put out?
A: The radar uses a 0-12 volt squarewave signal.
Q: How do you calibrate the radars to my controller?
A: The radars are calibrated thru the console or material application controller you are using. Most consoles have a ground speed calibration screen to calibrate them by driving a specific distance.
Q: What is the pin–out of the Radars?
A: 1.Black – Ground 2.Green – Signal 3.Red – Power 4.White- Status
Q: How can I Check to see if my radar is working?
A: You can test the radar by putting your console in the ground speed calibration mode, and then disconnect the round four pin connector. Take a jumper wire (on the console side of the connector) and put one end on pin 1 and with the other end tap pin 2 on and off
Q: Can I use my RVSII without the plastic lens on the front?
A: You need the window to seal the unit from the elements. You will get moisture in the horn and the transceiver which will ruin the radar.
Q: How tight should I tighten the mounting bolts on my RVSIII?
A: Tighten the RVSIII down with a nut driver instead of a ratchet and socket.
Q: When I am sitting still my console is showing speed?
A: You are getting vibration from the frame. You need to move the radar to another place on the frame or you may have a Transceiver going bad.
